Looking to upgrade my now somewhat antiquated VR rig; GPU is fine for now I think, but the CPU is in dire need of upgrading (i7-9700k). With the price of DDR5 RAM, I'm thinking of going with an AM4 socket so I can reuse my DDR4 RAM and save some money. That way I just need a new mobo and CPU.

I know the 5800x3D is quite good, but for half the cost I can just get the 5600x3D since I have a MicroCenter nearby. It's basically a dialed down 5800x3D with 2 less cores (so 6 instead of 8) but that should be fine for VRchat, right?

That should be fine! The cache in the CPU is mainly what vrchat is looking for, sure the extra two cores is โ€œniceโ€ but compared to what you have, itโ€™ll definitely be a big upgrade

Oh yeah youโ€™re pretty much set! And down the road you still have one more upgrade you can go for CPU wise if you REALLY need it, otherwise, the combo youโ€™ll be running is gonna be great
