Well dang, it would appear my stuff was stolen from my vehicle while I have been 1500 miles away and unable to afford repairs. That laptop included a number of prototypes I had never backed up anywhere, including tons of VFX prototypes from when I worked on Manifold Golden.

Help would be massively appreciated, but I fear I may need to increase the goal even more, unfortunately. Hoping to find out more whenever I can get a hold of the shop currently holding it car, since they've been a bit limited in their correspondence so far.

Had a brief call with the repair spot but they didn't have anything to say other than apparently police interest seeing the vehicle there for over a week which is... hhhhhh

Also they do not do installments so I have to be able to commit to the full repair cost before we can do anything. The moment I get back home tonight I will have to skip resting & immediately enter massive emergency fundraising plans (rent + car repair + now a missing MacBook Pro guhhhhh)

I have no idea how to approach them about it going missing, honestly. I'm generally timid, & they've been doing a bit of a good job at making me feel like I've inconvenienced them by not committing to the repair after several weeks. But it was def stolen from deep inside while under their watch.

I may have signed a contract stating they're not responsible for stolen property while it's under their watch, but I'm extremely suspicious about it being some random person digging through my car for so long without ever being noticed, and leaving it unlocked would be extremely naive for them.

This thing has been secure & hidden deep within in this car's trunk for 2+ years, with me hoping to be able to afford the $400 repair cost for it some day, and the moment I let them take care of the car, it suddenly disappears. Either the shop was being extremely negligent, or is being dishonest.

Unfortunately, they've also been the best deal around of all the shops & most people I know recc them, and I really don't want to deal with more people. I'm just hoping I can finally pay for the repair before things inevitably get even worse, since clearly my string of bad luck hasn't quite ended.

I'm gonna try to get a little rest but come morning I'm gonna be putting on as big of a show as I can to deal with all this genuine bullshit.

I'm a little over a third of the way to covering everything, but I've sent a request to just get some bare minimum service so I can at least move & park the car myself until I'm ready. Again, if you're in a position to do so, any help here would be massively appreciated. ko-fi.com/ompuco/goal?...

HUGE UPDATE I finally received a message from the current holders. I still need to figure out a plan (whether to have it sent back to me or just sell it off and wipe the files) and may need some help from anyone willing to help with translation, but this is very much a real step forward.
