US-Russia pact specifies an immediate shipment of 300K tons, followed by 500K tons in November, and eventually ramping up to a maximum total of 4.8M metric tons (roughly 36M barrels) spread over the next few months.

Can you double check? I thought US imports about 600,000 tons of oil a month from Canada. If Russia sends 500,000 tons or more a month that over 80% of the current Canadian exports. Did I get that wrong?

Besides being traitorous helping Putin finance the war, does Russia even have any spare oil? I thought Ukraine was hammering Russian oil production. Also doesn’t the US export a lot of diesel? Why sits it need more? I’m confused

Because Canada's baseline export volume to the US is so massive, a modest 4% bump in Canadian production and pipeline flow would equal roughly 36-40M barrels over that same timeframe, completely offsetting Russian supply.

What they are trying to cover up is that the world, led by China, has transitioned away from hydrocarbons, rendering them OBSOLETE except for specialty uses. That transition is accelerating at unprecedented speed and scale, and it has already offset every lost barrel of supply.

The evidence is an eight-week build in commercial inventories across every major hub while refiners cut runs. The U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve was the primary offset for missing supply early on; it is no longer needed.

Trump should be prosecuted as a war criminal. No wonder he wants to hinder the ICC.

Trump just announced that he is importing 400,000 tons of Russian diesel right away and up to 4,000,000 tons over the coming months. Every US$ going to Putin will be used to buy more missiles and drones to kill Ukrainian civilians. Trump's largess will lead to thousands of deaths. 1/2

If you follow the price of oil (Texas intermediate crude for American cars, and diesel for the trucks) that ship our foods, furniture, and yes presents yet somehow jack up the price when the sun isn’t shining. If we didn’t get dragged into this war, gas prices would be at least $1 less per gallon.

Putin is playing Trump and Trump is playing his voters. The volume is negligible in US needs, it's all about throwing Ukraine under the bus. Again. For nothing. It's despicable.

Correct. It's a world commodity based on the commodity price of a barrel of crude, and crude production is down b/c of Trump's war in Iran.

Congrats to USA joining the Russian war against Ukraine. Do US citizens actually think the rest of the world will brush over this US administration as an aberration? 3 times tens of millions have voted for this.
