@gruber.foo Apple using italics for summarized notifications is indeed clever. I just wish they had chosen a font with true italics rather than an oblique version of (presumably) San Francisco.

But that oblique italics is exactly how Apple designed San Francisco. It’s not an afterthought but a deliberate choice. E.g. their new system serif, New York, has italic italics, of course:

Then I suppose I wish they had used New York instead. True italics, with their distinct letterforms, would make summaries stand out and be more accessible. And, personally, a touch more refined.
