Open Market has grown up. It started as somewhere to list your old stuff. It's now a marketplace where you can run a real shop too on your own AT Protocol account. No fees, no lock-in. Here's what's new 🧵 1/8

Sell what you actually sell. Physical things. Commissions. And now software, ebooks, presets, fonts, anything you deliver by download. Each kind asks for different things, so a font never gets asked for its shipping weight. 2/8

Prices that tell the truth. Sales with a start and end date. Subscriptions, so "$69" can say "$69 a year". Tax included, or not. A price you can't compare isn't really a price. 3/8

One product, many options. Sizes, colors, plans, tiers. Each option is its own listing, but buyers see one product with a chooser and not four near-identical cards in a row. 4/8

And no more fake free. "$0, make me an offer" is the worst habit on Facebook Marketplace. It takes the top of every cheapest-first sort from someone being honest. There's now a real way to say "I don't know what it's worth". So $0 means free. 5/8

Your shop, your rules. A proper shop page: name, policies, handling time, where you ship. Plus vacation mode! Going away for two weeks no longer means editing forty listings one at a time, then undoing it all when you get back. 6/8

All of it lives in your own repo as AT Protocol records. If Open Market vanished tomorrow (which will not! :P), your listings would still be yours. We are working to create a community schema that will be shared as commerce standard so all of this work isn't ours, it's the network's. 7/8
