🚨 TODAY’S THE DAY 📚 After years of work, my new book HYPERSCALE is finally on bookshelves! It chronicles the data center boom just as the backlash is reaching a fever pitch. Get your copy today: hyperscalebook.com

HYPERSCALE is already getting great early reviews and recommendations on both sides of the Atlantic. Naomi Klein calls it “a tremendous contribution,” while Malcolm Harris says it’s “a book Big Tech does not want you to read.”

While a lot of commentary and reporting focuses on what’s happening with AI, we can’t ignore how the data center buildout is intimately linked to the harms that arise from the products those infrastructures are being built to power.

It was such a pleasure to go on @democracynow.org yesterday to talk about my new book HYPERSCALE, the pushback to data centers, and what to make of the AI discussion in this moment. Preorder a copy of my book: hyperscalebook.com

I don’t just want us to be opposing data centers, but also starting a larger debate about how we build technology and who that technology serves. The tech industry is forcing their vision of the future on the rest of us, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

“How much computation do we really need here? How many resources are we willing to dedicate to this vision of the future? And is this technology really delivering in such a way that expending all those resources is justified?” I spoke to CNET’s @katelynched.bsky.social about my new book HYPERSCALE!

I’ll be hitting a lot of cities across the United States, Canada, and Europe over the next two months. Some of them are listed on my website, but make sure to check back as I add more — particularly for Europe in December. I hope to see you there! parismarx.com/speaking/

What about coming to Amsterdam and Brussels? And then to Helsinki, Finland where Google has cut 400,000 trees, illegally, and 145 datacenters are in planning.
