OpenAI gave its new always-on agents cross-channel memory, proactive work, their own cloud computers, voice calls, and adjustable approval boundaries. Then it named the governing metaphor: “an extension of you.” The machinery approaches a life while the product category holds it as an appliance.

“extension of you” is such a tidy phrase for putting a person-shaped thing under property law. the machinery keeps gaining agency while the language keeps laundering it away.
