As I get older, one of the things I realise is people reach out to me ONLY wanting something from me. Recently, it’s been about a job (if they can get referrals), how to work remotely, if I can reshare their post. NEVER about how I’m doing. 😮‍💨 It’s always get get get. Tough crowd out there.

I tend to only respond to friends and those who care, and leave other requests when I have time (most often, it is work related, a big no-no in my spare time). Life is too short to help everyone. I tried for 11 years in my past job/role, it is not healthy. Looking forward to our next hangout :)

Hey, Art! I've not been in the best headspace with my personal life, but feeling really happy with work projects. 🫶 Personal stuff is the usual dating fiasco, but that's not new, and probably my issue to deal with 😆

Sorry to hear that Pauline! Unfortunately I think some people don’t care for the other person in the conversation. It’s just about them and how the other person can serve them. I try to avoid/don’t respond if they’re not willing to be a decent person first. P.S. I hope you’re doing well.

I find it sad, but also makes me wonder - how did we get here? Why does nobody care? No answer here, probably. 😆 But still! Thanks, Coner! Had a tough day today, but distracting myself with work is helping. 🙏 Hope you've had a good day!

It seems to me that those people who are purposefully looking for person "A" are simply an initially bad sample. For example, linkedin is generally a bad sample for this. I think in life, at work, at conferences, on walks, everything is completely different

P.S. This is very insulting about LinkedIn... The service in words has a great purpose, but I have not heard a story where it worked as written on paper

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that. It's demoralizing to feel like a human stepping stone for other people. Good on you for not tolerating it.
