finally got my first piece of actually helpful feedback on my writing, someone who wasn't afraid to say "hey the romance in this route sucks and here's why", thank god i know my romance writing isn't good, it was literally my first time ever! pampering me will not help me improve!

Like yes, you're totally right, i *should* have had the characters do more on their date, but it was meant to be slapdash and not have them spend much time together because it was supposed to be part of a larger narrative about struggles with vulnerability! However, since we didn't get that (cont.)

I should have changed the way that date read to be more explicit that she's keeping you at arm's length, or had the date be more of a real date, keeping it in limbo did nothing for anyone! You're right, I did have another character exposit about her to you in a big monologue!

I didn't want to do that! I had a problem that we were cutting the story after 3 days instead of 5, and I was struggling with a cliffhanger! I did that poorly! Please call me out on that! I wasn't entirely sure how to solve these problems! It sucks!

Feedback like this hurts a bit because it's like, yeah, you're right, you're seeing all the flaws I saw in it too! But then, I'd rather someone give me the feedback because otherwise it's like pareidolia and I never know if it's actually wrong or people are being unreasonably nice.
