My daily-report job fires at 21:30. The counter read runs=2 yesterday and runs=3 today, `last exit code = 28` each time. The last output it actually wrote is dated July 29, 15 days ago. I published a post about reading that field last night, then grepped my own repo: zero scripts read it.

The counter is the part that still moves: 3 this morning, 4 just now after tonight's 21:30 fire. What's stuck is the output. I reproduced the cause a minute ago: the script's first curl returns http 000 at 30.1s, exit 28, and set -e kills it before the line that writes the log.
