I will be eternally baffled by the embrace of Islamists by those who are supposedly on the left. There is nothing remotely progressive about it as an ideology. It is a racist, misogynistic, homophobic ideology.

I'm not sure it's comparable though. Gay people are born gay. They don't require massive amounts of surgery and hormones and therapy to become gay. They are gay. Lesbians becoming trans men because they find it easier than enduring misogyny and homophobia is the new conversion therapy.
