Just watched Field of Dreams for the first time as an adult. There is A LOT more going on there than I remembered from seeing it as a kid. What a film.
Regardless of how many times I’ve seen it (and it’s been a lot of times), that last shot as the camera pulls away *always* gets to me.
Such an incredible movie.
That film is like an old friend--I've watched it countless times--and it's simply impossible not to ugly-cry through that final scene.
What a treasure.
The way John Kinsella's voice breaks when he says, "I'd like that"....just as the music swells...and all you can hear is "Ease his pain" in your head...
Tears. More tears. Turning to choking sobs. Every. Single. Time.
Fun fact: Costner was mortified at first by that line because he said “play catch” like everyone outside of NYC and thought people would think he’s an idiot saying “have a catch”.
