If you are a long-term care resident in Ontario who is admitted to hospital it is policy to discharge you from your LTC home after 30 days if you haven't been discharged from the hospital back to your LTC home by then. Because the median stay is 5 days for a reason.

*60 days if it's an admission to a psychiatric bed. The odds that someone Mitch McConnell's age and frailty dies during a hospital admission of 30 days or less is about 1:5 (18% in Ontario). And, again, the median length of stay for his age group is 5 days. You either recover quickly, or you don't
