Wrong angle. It's not the case that corporate America lives under the umbrella of an all-powerful federal government. It is far more accurate to say that the figureheads in our government represent corporate interest. CEOs (or the boards that they represent) are the funders for both parties.

Anyone who thinks they can rely on corporations to protect the people or the planet is woefully naive. Capitalism benefits exploitation. It bubbles the most narcissistic and unempathetic individuals to the top, it's pavlovian. It rewards the worst of us and teaches us to prioritize wealth over life

This new technological age we are in has created a new level of wealth the robber barons of old would have wet their pants for. This can be peacefilly reined in by a solid change in govt at all 3 levels + reform/expansion of scotus. Or people are just going to get royally pissed off, more than now.

This circumstance destroyed the last stand of CEOs: that they have a spine... On the other hand if I try to put myself in their shoes I'm not sure what I'd do if woukd be in the crosshair of an autoritarian regime. Tuff luck.
