Netflix and Apple TV cancelled

Just canceled Prime, Audible, and Amazon Kids. Thanks for the inspiration! Just gives me even more of a reason to support the local library, PBS, and NPR.

Cancelled a while ago and haven't really missed Prime at all. Have also found it pretty easy to buy direct from most vendors or from specialty retail and bypass Amazon altogether for most things. Thanks for your leadership on this.

I minimize my use of Amazon only to purchase items that I cannot find anywhere else. Fortunately, with a little bit of searching I can usually find most items I need or want without having to resort to using Amazon. So, in fact, I rarely really need to use Amazon. And don’t. I win. Bezos can F OFF!

does it make a difference when you pay the subscription yearly rather than monthly. Not sure that cancelling my amazon prime membership that doesnt expire until August has any impact? perhaps just refuse to buy on amazon for the month?

Most people I know up here in 🇨🇦 have long cancelled Amazon and Netflix, not to mention boycotting travel and other US made products and services. America is currently a hostile and belligerent nation. And a global laughingstock. Sucks sometimes but a pretty easy decision.

But shouldn’t we wait until Feb 1 so they metrics are tidy?

I have cancelled my Audible subscription. I used OpenAudible to download all my purchases. In the UK Libro.FM is a great alternative for buying audio books and it supports your preferred indie bookshop.

i'm proud of you, professor. i haven't ordered from that company or used prime ever except for a text book one time. it can be done 🙃😆 i'm still going to watch the new space balls when it comes out, but i will feel a little guilty about it.

I only ever did the trial and was annoyed that I still had to pay extra for the good TV apps. Also, if I really have to order something, it usually comes within a couple of days anyways ( I try to check first where else I can get it).
