Reminds me of listening to Colbert talk to Anderson Cooper years ago about grief. Cooper had just lost his mother and Colbert, in typical Tolkein nerd fashion, expanded on a quote from Tolkein: "What punishments from God are not gifts?"
Not a believer myself but Colbert's thoughts were insightful.
beautiful, complicated relationship with my father, once I changed and allowed myself to forgive and accept him for who he was, our relationship changed, didn`t get amazing, but it shifted for me, took me 6-8 years to properly grieve his passing, my mothers passing? Still miss her daily
I am a 62 year old woman who lost her 39 year old mom to cancer. I’m not over it.
But I am smiling through these tears because of grief. Thank you from the bottom of my battered heart for a beautiful new perspective on this feature. I will count my receipts gratefully today 💙
My mom died April 3, 2000.
She was the light of my brother's, sister's lives, and my life. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her. She and my dad were married almost fifty years before he died. I, too, cry for her presence. Her memory has been a blessing. I grew up in Sherman Oaks.
