NEW: DHS is proposing to scrap the 60-day grace period that lets certain foreign workers stay in the country legally after losing their job while they look for new work or prepare to leave. Under the new rule, their legal status would end the moment the job that brought them here does.

So by DHS' logic: your next stop after collecting your things from your desk better be the nearest airport, or else ICE gets to come round you up.

What’s likely to come next is an Executive Order stating that when an employer is planning to terminate someone with that status, they are required to contact ICE to escort them to their home and then the nearest airport. If they can’t afford the plane ticket, ICE will take them, harshly.
