Top story: Deprecations for 8.6 (Gina P. Banyard). Deprecating list() — plus a floated array()-as-function — met WordPress head-on: "Are you crazy?" vs one-command rewrites and byte-identical opcodes. Juliette Reinders Folmer (WPCS maintainer) corrected everyone.

Round 2 was about evidence: Rowan Tommins counted 35 proposals, 8 with impact discussion — and threatened 27 blanket No votes. Juliette offered PHPCompatibility data for ~25 items. Freeze Jul 13; call to vote next week, ballots Jul 21+.

Function autoloading has 2 rival designs now. Paul M. Jones's mark 5: declare(strict_namespace=1) — only 2 of the top 1000 Packagist packages affected. Michael Morris's 5-day-old draft: autoloaders that hear about namespaces too.
