The VA lost about 700 social workers and 500 psychologists and psychiatrists over the course of 2025 — a significant change for an agency that was adding mental health staffers nearly every month leading up to Trump’s return to office. (Published March)

Most of our family are vets. It is difficult to schedule, you're luckyif you get one appointment(virtual) a month. And woe to you if you need to call in to change or reschedule. So understaffed and has been, its a shit show.

Or for anyone in general. With DoE moves to make student loans nearly impossible for “[economically]underperforming degrees” like social work, psychology and most arts, humanities, social science degrees, mental health collaborations mostly get demolished - for vets and us all.

Obama was the first president in decades to fix problems at the VA, all of which were undone by right-wing trash. I have never understood why all those good patriots are always willing to throw veterans under the bus.

Many lives depend upon full blown psychotics who refuse psychological care because... "I have a big brain". #Trump Then, why should the government pay for YOUR shrink instead of MY political ads? d'Oh. November won't fix all of this, but it can be a start.

As a longtime VA doc (retired), vets' psychological damage from being warriors don't magically disappear in 2025. War messes you up. I had a WWII vet break out in tears over his best friend being shot down when he couldn't go out 65 years after the event.

When soldiers mature and realize they've murdered innocent people who did nothing to US it's a big factor in Soldier suicides. GOP/MAGA/Trump/AIPAC Corp Dems/Corp Media r absolute FILTH as they wave the flag to justify murdering innocent people! coloradonewsline.com/2021/07/08/r...

coloradonewsline.comReport: Veteran suicides far outstrip combat deaths in post-9/11 wars | Colorado NewslineSuicides among veterans and active-duty military members who served after 9/11 were four times more common than combat deaths, a report found.

The overall suicide rate for U.S. veterans in the most recent Department of Veterans Affairs data (2023) stands at 35.2 per 100,000 individuals, averaging 17.5 deaths per day. That’s unacceptable. I wonder what the statistics look like now?

There's a shortage of mental health professionals nationwide. As psychiatry became more accepted, the numbers seeking help increased, topping during the COVID epidemic when so many suffered stress. Also, the specialty suffers low reimbursement rates from many insurers & government programs.
