Hey so, I think social media is super dangerous in its current state and I agree that kids shouldn't be on it unsupervised. Harvesting IDs to "verify age" in order to access social media is not the solution and is a massive invasion of privacy.

"Age verification" that relies on handing over all of the details needed to clone someone's identity to opaque 3rd-party services is, truthfully, the biggest data security blunder the world has ever seen. Not only are the age verifiers themselves utterly untrustworthy, they are an enticing target.

Let's block social media rather than force the operators to be accountable for the actions of their clients... So basically nothing until you are 16 and then it'll still be welcome to the wild west...
