Ask yourself "what is the doctor afraid of?" and you'll see the deeper problem What does a doctor - the one with all the power in the room - have to fear by stating in front of a patient, accurately and honestly "I don't know what's causing your symptoms"? Who are they trying to protect? #NEISvoid

Remember what they did to patients with chronic painful illnesses or disease? The personal attacks on patient honesty and integrity. The automatic assumption that you're an addict? You must be. You take meds for pain.

I don't care about their fear for themselves. I care about what they did to mostly elderly and disabled patients They still cause about 4,000 suicides a year from untreated pain.

Exactly right. This fear for themselves and protecting their own ego - the narcissism behind it - causes so much unnecessary suffering for so many people when we are at our most vulnerable.

They follow Wanda's rules of order. They are never allowed to ask me about pain and what I do to treat it. It's no longer any of their business. They may see me once a year.

There will be no surgeries unless it's an emergency. If it is urgent, the surgeon must sign a pain control contract, the script must be in hand one week before, in case I have to deal with hysterical pharmacists and shortages. Otherwise, no surgery.
