I'm a huge Remedy fan and have played everything they've ever made and will play Control: Resonant. But it also feels like a lot of the review discourse around it is that it'd be getting dragged way harder for all its faults if any other open world developer's name was on it.

what's so bad about this game? is it even out yet? i saw the trailer during the playstation event and it looked pretty crazy. how is this going to end up potentially destroying remedy?

It's not going to at all. It's nowhere near that. But it has issues like tedious combat with spongey enemies, a billion little things filling up the map with markers and some have said that the levels are overly confusing (kind of on purpose) and so long that it's easy to get lost.

None of that's unusual but I've seen to many super positive reviews that admit to those problems but just gloss over them. If it was Ubisoft or any other open world developer or publisher who put this out, I don't feel those faults would be so frequently dismissed. But I could be wrong.

The original Control had major issues at launch too, some of them also regarding combat. After a few patches, they retuned things and the game was MUCH better for it. I imagine the same will happen here and that's when I'll happily grab it and jump in.
