the thing about AI disclosures for games is they're just so insulting and disrespectful; "we only used it for coding assistance", why didnt you let someone learn, "we only used it for store assets", why didnt you pay someone to make those, "nothing in the final product", why is that okay to you?

Imagine they insted said "We only used slurs in the prototype. We removed them from the final version." The fact they started like that would make me wonder how their shitty mindset affected the rest of development.

"it was only used in a minor capacity and there is nothing ai-generated in the final product" is especially funny because the immediate followup question is "if its presence was supposedly so inconsequential you could strip it in its entirety from the final product then why did you use it at all"

its like if apple told you "yeah we used slave labor to mine the materials used to manufacture your smart phone but like it was really small amounts like those Congolese kids just got coffee for the guys who ACTUALLY mined the cobalt we promise" like 1 u sound like a liar and 2 why even bother then

Developers used debugger during production Final product does not include debug symbols "Why did you even use it to begin with" How dare you even put this on the same level as the literal mining of cobalt. You're deluded thinking this AI use is even noteworthy

Who's harmed here? IP holders? Artists?, artists not protected by any system whatsoever due to the failing of the world's economical mechanisms? One key difference is that you own and have bought products with cobalt, you have directly contributed to the continued exploitation of people, real people

So why don't you yell about that you sick fucking freak?! Why don't you demand that the exploitation of people changes?! Because you are performative. Because you have no true fucking moral compass or understanding of anything whatsoever.

As a student, I deeply related to "Why didn’t you let someone learn?" I'm paying to be taught, but instead the teachers just keep pushing AI more and more, saying stuff like "In the future, a programmer's job will be to validate AI output", as if that isn't extremely depressive Let ME do it T3T

it continues to honestly amaze me how committed they are to burning their last dollar in the ai furnace its actually insane the world is telling them on a daily basis "this sucks, its not working, we dont want it, its not profitable, we dont like you if you use it" and they just keep going anyway

It is so shortsighted too. Like any non-delusional person can see, this is not going to last, and soon tokens will be more expensive than a regular coder, who would be a junior learning today.

its gotta be some kinda brainwashing or mental parasite or something I dont understand how people who run a business for a living can be so fucking stupid the last fuckin decade has, if nothing else, killed impostor syndrome dead. never look at one of these losers and think you aint good enough lol

like at this point its looking like companies will happily, desperately burn themselves dry to their last fuckin penny into the ai furnace and then wonder why they go bust its gotta be some kind of brainwashing cult or mind control or hypnotism or something it doesnt make sense otherwise

the most insulting one to me is "We used AI so our staff could have better work/life balance" So instead of NOT working your staff to death with crunch culture you decided to BURN DOWN THE PLANET WITH AI?!?!

> why didn't you let someone learn i can't stop you from learning, but until i make some money, i can't pay you to either > why didn't you pay someone to make those see above > why is that okay with you nothing about capital exchange is ok with me, i play what i'm dealt

gosh, yeah, i had just guessed, based on the tone of this post, but then i went and looked. you truly contribute nothing but vitriol to the internet and should log off :)

i've written more and better software by hand then you ever will in your life. you only know how to yell at people on the internet. i will use whatever tools i like :) loser

less dismissively, you should read up on some of the abusive shit employers used to do (and still do, but, less) in the games industry. people getting "paid to learn" were often getting near minimum wage until fairly recently (on the order of 20 years, maybe 15)

One curious perspective a more recent instance of this brought up- "we use it so devs can focus more on creative tasks" - do people not consider coding as a creative task, as part of the creative process of game dev?

As a hapless 3d artist forcing myself to code I definitely don't, but I'm still not gonna use AI. I'd rather it be my own shitty spiteful code than slop

The issue is that "coding" is actually multiple tasks. Some of those tasks are creative in nature (designing), some are not (syntax). Most programmers I know do not consider syntax creative or fun, and that's primarily what AI is being used to automate when it comes to senior work.
