This was the first time in history that a state removed a protected class from its civil rights protections. Iowa affirmed that trans people can be fired, evicted, expelled, and denied service for being trans. Trans existence is not to be explained to kids. iowacapitaldispatch.com/2025/02/28/g...

Now, why did Iowa have to explicitly deny all civil rights to trans people? Because if trans is a protected class, trans kids who want to get puberty blockers, hormone replacement, and play sports could sue! "It's just sports." Naw, man, it's just civil rights. Zero Iowa Democrats voted for this.

So when a Democrat Josh Turek runs for Senate from Iowa with an identical (and deadly) anti-trans stance as his Republican opponent, after every statewide Democrat stood firm against literally ending trans people's civil rights last year, can you see how a message needs to be sent?

If this were gay marriage, the comparison would be that Obergefell was overturned, Iowa last year invalidated every gay marriage, greenlit legal discrimination in employment, healthcare, housing, education, and you're telling Iowa gays they have to vote for the Democrat who wants that nationally.
