The previous iteration of Warner Bros was also given the side-eye by Wall Street, constantly losing money since the WB-Discovery inception until finally the stock took off when someone else was stupid enough to buy the damn thing.

WB-Discovery was carrying over $40 billion in debt. Now Skydance-Paramount-WB is carrying *$80 billion* in debt, and layoffs are already being promised. It was a stupid deal and everyone knows it, and a total wipeout is not outside the real of possibility.

The point of a business is not to do whatever it is the business ostensibly does. The point of a business is to manipulate public perception of the business in order to increase the stock price to benefit shareholders and executives. And David No-Brows Ellison can't even do that right.

I'm really starting to think business leaders, at least in North America, don't actually know how to run businesses anymore. Not that they've needed to, of course, between decades of interest-free debt and an acquiescent government...

This is a real problem with having the megarich be in charge of companies- they're the only people in the whole organization who are wholly insulated from the realities of the business. How long until WarnerMount starts spinning off divisions? I give it a year.

My bet is that "Skydance" will be in chapter 11 in the next 3 to 6 years as it crumbles under all that debt. The Ellison's will walk away scot-free.

Amazing how a relatively pathetic amount of debt can dominate or ruin the lives of us peasants, and yet debts that rival the GDP of some countries are barely an inconvenience to corporations.
