I feel like I can't play Expedition 33. I feel like if I try and play it the immense hype surrounding it will make me expect the best video game ever made and it won't be that and I'll end up hating it.

Neglecting a good game because you think you will have too high expectations means you're simply missing out on a good game, nothing you can do about expectations but not being able to experience it is a huge loss. Just go for it, fuck what others think, enjoy a game for the sake of enjoying a game.
