This may ruffle some feathers… but I firmly believe Pride festivals should always be free general admission. It’s a value I’ve long held. To charge for entry is to exclude at a space that should serve as the most visible and inclusive space for the local LGBTQ+ community.

This doesn’t mean Pride shouldn’t fundraise from the community. It’s better to let whoever can afford to support however they can before or at the festival. But a flat gate charge to everyone will absolutely exclude people. /soapbox off 🫶
