I wish Emulation News YouTube channels were a bit more concise - Retro RGB and Lu's Retro Source are great but some others just pad out so much it's infuriating "Hey guys welcome back and have we got some great news in store for you, something we've all been asking for believe me..." etc.

"...and I can't believe it for myself but did you find yourself asking if they could, but low and behold without further ado, let's strap in and jump straight into what everyone's been talking about for years and it's finally here and this one takes me right back to when I was younger..." etc.

It's in a lot of videos now. The style is to get people watching longer for their stats related to monetisation. I find it makes me no longer visit those types if channels, so the tactic tends to have the opposite effect. I see comments on reels saying "Thanks for getting to the point."

Not actually having a lot to say in the first place, poor writing skills, and use of AI writing - which is crazy repetitive. And it's now 'assisted' by AI suggestions. It all adds up when YouTube's algorithmic demand of longer videos for monetization at a pace of 1 video every week or so.

The 'sweet' spot is said to be around 8-12 minutes, and when you only have 3 minutes of things to talk about, it becomes increasingly difficult to make consistently engaging videos. I often find myself watching videos at this length thinking 'this could be a short' and I'd be missing nothing.
