An exercise I used as an ice breaker for the Design International workshop at the UQAM School of Design in Montreal. We each got a black piece of paper and tore it into random shapes. Then in short blocks of time, we were to arrange the shapes into a character.

The purpose was to focus on silhouette and positive and negative space. This doesn't require any rendering, just lots of squinting and paper moving. To help us not think about details and only think about shape. I was intrigued with the result.
