The needle on my record player got just hopelessly gunked up and wrapped in teeny tiny threads that compressed air wouldn't remove. I had to put it under the big microscope at work to get these mystery micro fibers off of it

I've had record players my whole life and never run into this. It was like a little vortex of microscopic threads got twisted around the base of the needle.

It was cool to see the needle under very high magnification and surprising how small some of the what-all-ever-they-were fibers turned out to be

Oh yeah, I've done nearly the same process before with probably a shittier microscope, but it's wild that fibers that small can exist
