Mills College at Northeastern University is one of the jewels of Oakland. I came to this campus as a student and young single mother and walked these paths with my child.

This campus is home to a university, but also to the little ones at the preschool, the girls at Julia Morgan, & the faculty and workers who keep it all running. That is why I was proud to secure over $1 million in Federal Community Project funding for Mills College at Northeastern University.

This funding will invest in the simple things that make a place safe: light, open paths, and updated equipment like call booths. Safety is a public good, and that is exactly the kind of investment Oakland deserves.
