unlike X, your experience here is entirely determined by the choices you've made about which people/feeds to follow. if you're experiencing bad vibes, it's a you problem for me, X is a wasteland. all the interesting people left long ago, and the algorithm feeds me ragebait and grifter junk

depends what you find interesting. the vast majority of the musicians/writers/reporters/foodies/scientists etc that made X interesting (to me) — in other words, the creatives — have very largely abandoned ship. if you only care about tech and don't mind being part of the fascism machine, X is fine

> and don't mind being part of the fascism machine mannnn this smug self righteousness is a terrible look I'll put it to you this way: all the wonderful, _brilliant_ people I enjoyed chatting with at your employer's conference last October are all on Twitter still 😉

X is a platform that amplifies the enemies of liberal democracy, run by a drug-addled megalomaniac who is in the process of illegally dismantling the government. people have already died as a result of his actions. by continuing to spend time there, you are lending him support, and poisoning your

own information diet. None of these statements are particularly controversial. If being opposed to that sort of thing makes me smug and self righteous then I suppose that's a label I will just have to wear. I'm aware that lots of people I consider friends and colleagues are still there. Sadly,

I've tended to notice that people in the tech industry tend to consider themselves 'apolitical' or straight up don't pay attention to what's happening outside their bubble. To be honest, I thought you were different — your personal brand is 'outraged centrist liberal feminist dad'.

Why you so hellbent on defending X? Platform ran by a politicized wankhead who's not just annoying but pushing heavy propaganda 24/7. If you squint your eyes and keep a mute list, maybe the few gems are worth it for you, but it's not the case for many. Surely it's not that hard to understand?

Most folks here on Bsky came here specifically because of Elon's actions on X, not because there is a bigger audience here but in spite of it (I would argue, however, that factor is changing rapidly as Bsky reaches a critical mass). It's unsurprising that many have a strong view on that point.

Dude! I am honestly kinda stunned at this thread. Everything you are saying Adam is close to an objective fact. Most tech folks over here while you can tell share Rich’s opinions seem decent enough to rise above their prejudices. Prejudice and intolerance of others persuades no one

I’m really sad at folks who are as hostile towards X and other real people who happen to still use it. While potentially sharing these views on devices made by exploitative labor (to put it kindly). This whole thing makes me sad, and regular folks are paying the price of this divisiveness
