When designing a creative software tool like a digital audio workstation, off the shelf game engine, or digital art program, is the allowance of more variable control over parameters intentional? I look at all these complex tools with infinite possibilities, but only ever needing a few prm. combos.

Furthermore, if it is intentional, is that intention there to provide a sense of originality, whereas more preset-oriented tools can feel a bit less personal? But also, the fine control over parameters is there in case presets are just a little off the mark. Maybe it’s a bit of both. (rambling)
