Hello everyone, im on a mission of making a browser alternative to chrome, built on top of servo, yk that experimental browser mozilla developed and linux foundation got, its gonna be called ringtail, and i will be documenting my entire journey here ;D #rust #privacy #browser

Chrome is the new Internet Explorer. Dominant. Bloated. Owned by an advertising company that profits from tracking you. Firefox was the answer once. It's losing its way. The web needs a new Firefox moment. That's what RingTail is.

Most Chrome alternatives are just Chrome with a coat of paint. Brave? Chromium. Edge? Chromium. Arc? Chromium. RingTail is built on Servo — a browser engine written entirely in Rust. No Google DNA anywhere in the stack. Hey @servo.org - am trying to build something on top of the engine :D

Why does Rust matter for a browser? Chrome has had hundreds of CVEs from memory bugs. Buffer overflows. Use-after-free exploits. Rust makes these entire attack classes structurally impossible. RingTail isn't just more private. It's safer at the foundation level

RingTail's privacy stack goes beyond Firefox: → DNS over HTTPS, always on → CNAME cloaking detection → Full storage partitioning → Canvas/audio/WebGL fingerprint blocking → WebRTC leak prevention → Forced HTTPS everywhere Not settings. Defaults.

But here's where it gets interesting. RingTail ships with its own network layer called .peanut minecraft.peanut yourcoolsite.peanut Only RingTail users can access it. Everyone gets 5 free domains. Registered via @ ringtail.peanut account. A web within the web

Every ad on the web gets replaced by Rap — our raccoon mascot. But Rap does more than replace ads. Rap reacts to your privacy score. Happy on clean sites. Concerned on tracker-heavy ones. Privacy shouldn't be boring.
