Congrats once again to all the politicians, journalists, artists, celebrities, and brands who STILL prop up this man’s right-wing propaganda platform every day by using it as an official communication channel.

i don't think we can come to a reasonable compromise with this

The most frustrating part of this is how wholly unnecessary it is to have a presence on X in 2026. Meta is a horrid company also run by a lunatic billionaire but it is much harder for normal ppl to untangle themselves from Meta. Normal ppl don’t even use X! They see X posts via screenshots elsewhere

I saw Bernie post a statement on Instagram about how we have to “fight back” against corrupt billionaire influence, in the form of a screenshot of his post on X. Like, COME ON, man. Telling us to fight back while handing Musk free validation on a silver platter FOR NO REASON

“Even my enemies use my platform” is great marketing for Musk! It makes X look even more legitimate when the people who are supposedly against him are still acting like they have no choice but to go to his rigged arena to entertain his trolls.

quick counterpoint: most notably, japan has far more of a presence on there than most other countries do, and by-and-large they're pretty solidly insulated from the anglosphere's political shitstorm; anyone who wants to keep tabs (at all) with what's going on in that country has to be on there

and it's also entirely possible to insulate yourself from the political shitstorm, too, by running adblockers/not using any mobile apps/running extensions to reduce or eliminate non-twitter branding and all the bullshit features they put on there over the past few years

talking, like, nearly the entire media apparatus over there uses the site, across nearly all segments of most industries, small and large. they see elon as a joke and just ignore him for the most part
