Believe it or not, I am a British, Sunday Times bestselling author & in that capacity I would like to publicly state the British government is beclowning itself with its ludicrous law depriving rhe courageous (& Irish!) Sally Rooney of the ability to sell books & earn money doing so in the UK.

Let's be clear. What the British government is doing is depriving the people of Britain of the right to free speech and to access to those others who exercise free speech.

But they aren’t. She is free to sell them but not to pass profits on to what has been deemed a terrorist organisation (whether they should be classified as one is still up for debate).

I didn't read the book and don't know much about it. But to a liberal American this sounds crazy. Maybe I'm full up of crazy from djt saying the White House considers anyone using the term Artificial Intelligence an Enemy. Be careful over there.

Yeah I know, and it's as disgusting as it is disturbing. Britain just so happens to have a long history of oppressing the Irish, of which this author is. Irish people are very supportive of Palestine because they know what it's like to have an imperial power indiscriminately try to kill your society

And it's a big problem to the ruling class of Britain to allow sympathy to grow and spread in regards to Palestine and Lebanon, because they're on the side of Israel and the US. Hence we've arrived at them silencing speech they don't want

When will #AndyBurnham and #Labour reconsider #Starmer's ill conceived categorisation of #PalestineAction as a Proscribed Organisation?

That’s the real question here. The author is free to sell her books here still. It’s what she does with the profits that is the issue and nothing to do with being Irish
