I can't wait until the EUDI wallet allows this EEA-wide. Obviously I agree about "my details aren't stored on protocol" which is a crucial point (hellooooo W Social)

We want to take the time to look at better privacy options as well as fuidify the process before releasing this widely. It'll also never be mandated unless we are required to by law. But it's very cool to be able to create multiple overlapping signals if trust this way!

Switzerland is also developping an e-ID (there was a public vote on it last year or so) Could be a good way to verify official accounts of people working in government or other public-facing positions 🤔 Just curious how it would work for people who prefer to use pseudonyms...

You can verify that you're a person without verifying your name (those are two separate labels). Imposing real names is a really bad idea, it mostly increases toxicity. It's an idea that mostly makes sense to politicians because they wouldn't dream of *not* having their name there :)

That's why I asked - I've had my fair share of online experience in fandom spaces with my real name involved, so I prefer to keep it offline now. I don't mind verifying I'm a person in some thought-through way or other, though. 😊

Integration is a little all over the place, it really depends on where. I'm not the expert though, just the pretty face — if you have a government in mind, we can figure that out and talk!

"details aren't stored on protocol" Is anything stored on protocol (a signed verifiable credential for example) or is this a proprietary thing that requires queries to an external API? Is it extensible in a way that other verifiers could participate? Will it support all EIDAS / EUDI countries?

The label is stored, but it's just a label. The model is extensible. Just sharing a demo for now as we're getting it ready for next week's conference (at which people will be able to use it themselves). It's important to get this right, so I can't commit to a release date yet!

Presumably there is some kind of signature a client can verify? Where is the root of trust? Governments? Or an intermediate verification entity? Looking forward to the release, this sounds exciting. (Will the presentation be recorded?)

@caesar.dev I'm banging on this one. Recorded! PLEASE! Let's have a foundation doc and a place to discuss it. This war between "experts" is tiring me out. We all have to breathe the same atmosphere. bsky.app/profile/simo...

Its so funny. I'm thinking about the silly arguments between @anna.wsocial.eu and @robin.berjon.com organisations. Then I looked at their web mastheads. eurosky.tech vs. wsocial.news technical boffins vs. news aggregators Yep. And never the twain shalt meet. 🤣

That's why I put the demo up. 24 countries so far. You can see the eIDAS legislated "mandatory" attributes - the standard so far. I have mentioned the edugain guys (R&E sector) are trialing linking between eIDAS (few attributes) and edugain accounts (lots of creds).

Je crois qu'on peut juste récupérer les données directement depuis les serveurs de l'ANTS :-D Pas de projet en cours, mais ça peut se lancer!
