I was a kid when MTV first aired. What a time to be young. Great music, awesome videos.

Their US music video channels MTV Classic, mtvU, MTV Live, Tr3s, Nick Music, CMT Music, BET Jams, BET Soul and BET Gospel are not going anwyhere, the main MTV channel still has a weekly block of new music videos, and both CMT and BET Her still air videos every morning.

What are channels that are not in the US

If it’s no longer a music channel then I’m assuming the Awards shows are gone too?

Great days, great days.

It used to be about music, then it got real stupid with Paris Hilton etc....

Jello finally got his wish…

FYI, VEVO still has multiple music video channels streaming 24/7 on Hulu Live.

MTV still had music channels?

What a shame.

MTV Live, today. This is one of the weirdest things I've seen in media, just reporting something that isn't true (in the US, anyway).

I had no idea any of those things existed.

100%

'MTV’s parent company, Paramount Skydance, is also expected to shutter music-only channels in Australia, Poland, France, and Brazil. Reps for MTV in the U.S. did not immediately return a request for comment regarding the full slate of channels that are set to go dark.'

YouTube killed the video channel.

goodbye to Yo MTV Raps which taught me about racism in the 1980s NYC suburbia. Home sick and found MTV Raps was on all late morning but mysteriously turned off exactly at 3pm - just as the white kids were coming home from school.
