That's one way of looking at it. The other is that a deliberate escalation trap has been manufactured, which traps Europe, Russia & Ukraine & is weakening all 3. Ask yourself who ultimately benefits from this

Obama was weak -he should’ve sent the U.S. Navy in 2014 to kick the Russians out of Crimea and uphold America’s security commitments to Ukraine. Trump isn’t weakness -it’s outright betrayal of the United States and serving a hostile government.🤬

Much though I like Obama, he could have been so much more. He did not follow through with US response to chemical weapons attacks in Syria in 2013. So Putin could have thought Obama would not respond to Putin's 2014 seizure of Crimea and attempts to seize Donetsk and Luhansk.
