Nothing like waking up super early for a 6.15am flight only to see a text at 5am that the flight is cancelled. Since when did Southwest become so bad at operations? They cancelled because of crew unavailability.

Crew shortages count as a controllable cancellation, so Southwest owes free rebooking, a meal voucher if you wait 3+ hours, and a hotel if it pushes you overnight. If you'd rather not fly, DOT rules say you get a cash refund to your card, not just flight credit.

Thanks. Yes they rebooked for free but the next flight was 2.5h later and my plans for the day were messed up, and my early wake up was wasted.
