I once saved an agency around $2 million on a modernization project because of a bad contract they had, it took me several phone calls and less than a week. You need alignment and air cover to pull stuff like this off, but the game changing is stuff we weren't even allowed to promote or talk about

I've been an IT services contractor to the Fed Govt. There was a time when Fed contracting shops were pressured to require agile delivery in their contracts, but they had no idea how to structure an agile contract. Bad agile contracts cost the govt millions. 18F's Federal Field guide helped fix it!

The govt still can’t get data rights and data access rights properly in contracts. And vendors are pulling shenanigans to gatekeep access to the govt’s own data.

I'll also add that without all the agency staff clearing that path to make it possible for me to help them, there's just no way this would've worked out. It wasn't me, right? There were like 20+ different people aligning across silos. A conductor w/o an orchestra is just a goof waving their arms
