Priced out an automation workflow for 500 orders/month. Claude Sonnet 4.5 is superior, but it costs ~€132 vs ~€17 for Mistral Large 3. Do you pay the 7x premium for "perfect" logic, or is 80-80%% accuracy at a fraction of the cost the smarter play? #buildinpublic #indiehackers

The 80% trap is real. That 20% error rate at 500 orders/month = 100 broken orders you're manually fixing. At scale, debugging time eats the cost savings. My rule: prototype with cheap models, production with reliable ones. The premium pays for itself in sleep.

80% accuracy is a trap. You saved €115/month but now you are debugging edge cases at 2am. I have watched teams switch back after counting engineer hours spent fixing bad outputs. Cheaper model, higher total cost.
