Finished base dawntrail the other day and honestly? I don't think it deserves the hate it gets. It was a good story to serve as the introduction to a new massive arc. It didn't have to be Endwalker. It felt like a very strong callback to ARR in a lot of good ways.

I also enjoyed it from the perspective of Sagra, because he was able to easily connect with Wuk Lamat and Koana as an adopted child himself. There were a lot of Parallels to his own story, and for him to take a backseat wasn't a problem for me.

Sphene and Zoraal Ja were both fascinating antagonists, the former falling victim to the weight of expectation vs the latter falling victim to a desire to never experience loss again. It was good for what it was. It was a good time, and there several moments that ripped my heart from my chest.

Just because it wasn't shadowbringers or Endwalker again doesn't mean it was bad. But I also really enjoyed stormblood, which a lot of people... Didn't seem to enjoy either? So maybe my opinion is just wrong lmao.
