In Cleanness (Garth Greenwell, 2020), chapter 3: Decent People, a Bulgarian protest representing the "Decent People" against a corrupt government makes deliberate efforts to clean up after themselves to show their efforts in the most digestible light.

By the end of the story the small queer collective joining the protest have been beaten up, their signs broken, and they're left to be cleaned up like the refuse on the side of the event. They were "Indecent People", according to their assailants. Who was really doing harm for the movement?
