So here's what's up, and why I need the homie network: I lost my job. As of this afternoon, I no longer work for Automattic, after 16 good years. I do not have anything else lined up yet, and will need to find a new role relatively quickly. Please boost and reach out if you can connect me.

My children are at a point in their schooling where I will not be able to relocate easily, and so I would prefer to stay in the St. Louis area. I have been working remotely for those 16 years and bring a wealth of experience in doing so. I have some runway, but the job market right now sucks.

I am spending the rest of today celebrating my daughter's birthday and watching movies with her. Then, I'm probably going to sleep all day tomorrow while the stress flows from my body and soul. I will be reworking my CV soon, but for now: linkedin.com/in/ryanmarkel/ is the best reference.

Feelings of shame and disappointment in myself are running rampant within my mind as the reality of this settles. It will be at least a few days before I can approach this with anything remotely resembling objectivity, but I know that's OK—and normal.

This felt kinda good, though.
