Yeah, New Deal Supes would have A LOT of people clutching their pearls. He scares the crap out guys by playing catch with them across the sky, he collapses mines right on the heads of greedy mine owners and their fat cat friends so they're threatened with suffocation.

I'm sorry but... The IMHO INSANE online wars over MOS in 2013 has produced an overcorrection and resulted in a Superman from DC/WB that's too often just comes across as a well meaning and naive himbo and... Yeah, that's not Superman to me. And I do get why people want him to be "softer".

Supes is one of the best role models as a Non-Toxic Make Role Model. My own grandma noticed this and used him to help me understand my own emotions. When Lois died in the Donner film my grandma made sure to point out "See... Superman cries. It's okay to cry if feel it." Wise old lady. Still...

I think that's part of Superman for sure. Power that is gentle when it has to be. Mercy. Grace. Understanding. Respect for life. Yes, all that is Supes. But you know what else Supes stands for? He stands for socking the "God Evil" right smack in his jaw whenever possible.
