Legend of Korra book 2 get IMO too much hate for the Raava/Vaatu business and cutting off past avatars thing and not nearly enough hate for the frankly unforgivable character assassination of its own cast

Why does Korra trust Unalaq far past what is reasonable? Why when Korra has legitimate grievances her stage directions are "irrational bitch"? Why does Bolin sexually assault his costar? Why does Lin ignore extremely pertinent details on a case? Why does Mako exist?

Sorry I've been rewatching the whole series and the drop from "flawed but good ideas" in book 2 to "a few good ideas floating around the worst plot of all time" is staggering. I'm a Korra defender but mostly for books 3 and 4.
