I can no longer do the things I wish to do because of physical ability and funds. it hurts, it is often soul-sucking. but we owe it to ourselves to create our own happiness rather than demand it come at the price of another's exploitation. lean into community, get involved in art activism, find joy.
this isn't even about commission price discourse or gena-i discourse anymore, I am just so opposed to the idea that anyone, of any ability or background is "incapable" of being an artist, thinker, writer, maker, visionary. it's ahistorical, self-centered, and sad. art is (the) people's power.

this is an incredibly kind & compassionate take, i think: one that genuinely acknowledges that yeah, not everyone can make art in specific ways, but art is so vast & myriad that everyone has A way. i am really sorry you've experienced a loss of one, & really think you've nailed this issue perfectly.
