Working on creating a demo visualisation of my Kubernetes cluster that runs in the browser. Just got network visualisation working. Each image is its own actual bit of running code using a fetch-like API to talk to other pods, and the network emits events when this happens.

It doesn’t look like much but there’s 76,000 lines of Kubernetes code under there. I have a Kubelet, an apiserver, a probing subsystem, pod life cycle event generator, container GC, container runtime, container network, CoreDNS, various resource controllers. It is as realistic as I can make it.

As far as I can tell it’s about 270kb gzipped. So a lil chonky but ultimately well within what I’d consider acceptable for what it’s going to allow me to do.

Also, the visualisation isn’t part of the library. It is built on top of the library, using the Kubernetes API and watchers. You will be able to visualise clusters in whatever way you like.

The API is type compatible with the github.com/kubernetes-c... API, implementing a subset of it corresponding to what I’ve implemented so far. So it should feel somewhat familiar if you’ve communicated with Kubernetes via API before.
