I've been thinking how audiences come to TTRPGs via Actual Plays (or not). It's been a big factor in how I've prepped Hellbent. I can't help shaking the feeling that a lot of us are running shows that cater to people who are already predisposed to the world/lingo of TTRPGs which can hinder newbies.

And I think that's OK - but personally, especially with ADHD, it can be hard to follow in-jokes AND system idiosyncracies. Certainly with a new system. Even things we take for granted as common nerdy lexicon can be blocks. Paladin, d6, tiefling, etc. are all basically foreign terms to non-nerds.

For Hellbent, I've been working hard on a presentation that is both engaging/focused on story while being welcoming of non-RPG viewers. Tracking not just what's happening but why - including how we promote the show and the terminology we use. To me it's important, but I'm curious what you think!
